Trader's Notes

"Here's a cool show for you Bottle Rockets fans (and maybe some Black Crowes fans, too). That's because former Crowe Audley Freed sat in with the boys this night. There probably weren't 20 people in the place, but they played as though it were packed.

The BRox (and Freed, I guess) were headed for Austin for the South By Southwest festival and stopped in Denton for a little workout. The sound is really good for this show, considering we were in a tiny place and the BRox had the sound cranked up to 11. Lots of jamming, too, including an extended Allman Bros.-style shootout (disc 2, track 10) that had Brian and Audley leaving the stage to sit at an empty table (it wasn't hard to find one, trust me!) in the audience while continuing to play. It was fantastic, like seeing these guys in your living room.

As usual, Brian was his jovial self, including some banter which unravels the mystery title to this release (end of track 1, disc 2). Many thanks to original taper V4TX for being there and his generosity for sharing. Sorry about the convoluted lineage, but it is what it is for the foreseeable future. It's still a great addition to your collection, and I believe this source is uncirculated (or at least way undercirculated). Maybe not any more. Share and enjoy but don't encode to MP3 or ever sell. And do buy all the BRox CDs if you don't have them. They are criminally unsung. God Bless Brian and the BRox. On with the show, a classic in joeyjay's opinion ..."
