Recorded live at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, California on June 6, 1982 (early show).
The culmination of the tempestuous Richard and Linda U.S. tour, these two shows at the Great American Music Hall are apparently widely regarded as fairly poor concerts, with the strain of the whole experience starting to tell on all concerned.
However, I actually don't find that to be the case - sure, there are weak tracks (Richard's vocals on You're Going To Need Somebody and Shoot Out The Lights, for example, seem a little too wearied) but Linda's singing on I'm A Dreamer and Dimming Of The Day is wonderful. Similarly, although the guitar playing may seem a little laboured in places, Richard cutting loose on New Fangled Flogging Reel is a delight.
Not the best audience recording - a little boomy, but I've certainly heard worse, and for historical significance these shows are essential. According to the notes sent with this disc, Shoot Out The Lights is cut at the end of the first disc, but it sounds complete to me...
