There's something about Boulder shows, which seem to be invariably excellent. The local radio station KBCO also often seems to broadcast the gigs, resulting in some great quality FM recordings.
This is a highly unusual show - Dave Mattacks had broken a rib, and as a result sits out the first handful of songs. So what you get is an intriguing, more acoustic opening to a typically electric '88 show, more typical of the Thompson/Kirkpatrick shows of a few years earlier and giving the space for some less common songs (including what must be amongst the last live performances of Streets Of Paradise to date).
This is an essential listen, without doubt. And just when you think it can't get any better, you get to the end and find that it also includes the highly entertaining soundcheck, in the same sparkling sound quality. Its inclusion suggests this boot probably derives from a pre-FM source.
