The Los Angeles leg of the Newport Folk Festival tour featured a short (25min) acoustic slot from Richard Thompson - he uses the opportunity to try out very early renditions of some Mock Tudor tracks. Whilst Bathsheba Smiles is fairly well-developed at this point, the opener features quite different lyrics to the version that would make it onto the record the following year. A relatively clear audience recording of an interesting show.

In addition to Thompson and Bruce Cockburn (whose set is included here) the tour also featured performances by Mark Eitzel, Beausoleil and Marc Cohn. Lucinda Williams and Loudon Wainwright were both on the bill but had to cancel.
