Recorded at various locations during the years 1989-1993.

A truly enjoyable collection of covers from various locations during the period 1989-1993. Unfortunately I don't have any further information about the individual sources - any assignments of dates and venues have been worked out myself by listening to the relevant recordings - those for which I don't own the recordings are mostly guesswork.

I recently tracked down the person who put this together, but when asked about sources his response was:

"I don't have any of the source info. I basically put my discs together from songs that had been added onto the ends of some shows, to fill the discs up."

Many of these tracks are FM sourced (the opening instrumental was clearly part of a radio interview, for example, although the others are from live performances) and all are in great sound quality. This bootleg displays better than anything else I've heard the range of influences on the band, as they tackle everything from Dylan and Johnny Cash through to The Stooges and U.S. punk band Black Flag.

The Led Zeppelin tag before Fortunate Son only extends as far as the intro, and does not include any of the lyrics.

Note: This set also circulates under several less imaginative titles, including Cover Story (the name used in the artwork here) and Cover Songs.
