Trading Guidelines

Nothing on this site is for sale, but is available in exchange for other unreleased material. If you are new to trading, I also do B&P, where you send blank media and return postage (time permitting).

I'm getting swamped with trade requests, so please don't be offended if I don't reply. If you haven't heard from me you could always email me again in a week or two.

I really don't have many rules, but the following guidelines seem sensible:

  • Burn D.A.O. to avoid those irritating gaps between tracks. If you're not sure how to do this with your software, just ask.
  • Use decent CDRs. I burn on Taiyo-Yuden manufactured discs - although these are unbranded, they're amongst the best media out there. I'm not overly picky about media choice myself, although please don't use generic unbranded discs.
  • Replace any problem discs. Bad burns happen from time to time, but if they do occur I'll always send out replacement copies and would expect the same from you.
  • No MP3-sourced material, at least not without the clear knowledge of both parties. Any discs that I know are from MP3 sources will be marked as such on my list.
  • Artwork is welcome, but not essential. If you have covers in digital form, you can use the upload script to transfer copies to my server so that I can make them available on the site.
  • Please don't send large attachments to the Hotmail account above. Trade lists and artwork can always be uploaded using the upload script.

Broadband Trading

I can trade lossless audio (SHN, FLAC, APE etc.) via an ADSL internet connection. If you have a high-speed connection of your own, and would find it more convenient to trade this way, just let me know.

B&Ps

I never feel comfortable with money changing hands for bootlegs, for obvious reasons. The Post Office will normally do International Reply Coupons (or if you're in the UK, postage stamps will do), so you can put the blank discs in a padded envelope without sealing it, get the contents weighed at the Post Office and purchase coupons to cover the postage. Put those inside with a label bearing your address and seal the whole thing up.

As with trades, drop me an email first to arrange a B&P.
